CBI (Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries) is an agency of the Netherlands Ministry for Development Co-operation. CBI contributes to the equitable economic development of selected developing countries and countries with economies in transition by providing services aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of companies in the field of export marketing and export management pertaining to the EU & EFTA markets.

 

COURSE OUTLINE:

The objective of the training will be an introduction to Marketing of the ICT Companies. It will be a two day training about knowledge transfer, focussing on the european market with specific attention to the IT Industry.

 

OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will:

 

  • has gained improved knowledge of tools to communicate with an European export market;
  • Is familiar with the EU market demands & regulations for ICT sector;
  • Is familiar with the european culture and business practice and buyer behaviour;
  • Is familiar with the trends in the european ICT market;
  • Is familiar with the strategy development for entering the European Market;
  • is familiar with CBI's mission and website.

 

SYLLABUS:

  1. Introduction of CBI, trainers and participants, programme overview, objectives & procedures,
  2. expectations of participants / management of expectations
  3. Introduction to Europe & Europeans (introduction to Europe & Europeans)
  4. European ITO market & trade structures (understanding the EU market: structure & segmentation of ITO sector in Europe)
  5. European culture and business practice (cultural & business differences within EU and between Europe and Asia)
  6. EU buyer behavior (how do EU ITO buyers think & act when buying from overseas)
  7. Market research for EU (how & where to find information on European markets
  8. Intro to CBI market information database)
  9. EU Market demands & regulations for ITO sector (what, why and how of ITO market demands & regulations,w hich demands are relevant to the ITO sector, how can/must SME's adapt in order to comply to regulations, how to use demands & regulations as competitive advantage)
  10. Trends in European ITO market (what are EU ITO buyer trends?, which are relevant developments in ITO sector? , how can you keep track of these developments yourself?
  11. Technology trade event participation Trade event selection( activities before-, at-, and after the event)
